Granite is by far the most popular item home buyers consider a “must have” when buying a new home.  The smooth texture of natural stone prevents stains and resists dirt and bacteria.  Plus, it doesn’t scratch very easily. Aside from being durable, granite countertops are beautiful and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Currently, granite is the industry standard for countertops. American Housing Builders has proudly designated granite as our “standard” countertop material for all our new homes. But we also offer quartz, recycled glass, Corian®, modern laminate and natural stone options, such as exotic granites, marble and onyx as upgrades.

Stone countertops come in neutral colors such as white, cream, black and brown to bolder palettes such as golds, blues, greens, even pink!  Some selections provide an amazing “sparkle” that’s sure to please.  The design of a stone countertop not only brings character to your home but offers a performance level that exceeds many traditional materials.

Quartz countertops are quickly gaining popularity. This stunning, low-porosity material is created from natural quartz, one of the hardest natural minerals found on earth. The hardness of the stone provides anti-microbial qualities to a beautiful and functional product that will last a lifetime. Manufacturers add pieces of glass or metallic flecks to the composite material to create variety. The color choices are endless but, there’s one small drawback – price.

Remember, stone countertops are incredibly durable, require minimal maintenance and can withstand spills. Hot beverages, grape juice and slicing knives rarely damage hard surfaces like granite or quartz. If you’re building a new home or simply want to remodel, stone countertops are an excellent choice.
