Mick and his father TK “creating” floor plans back in the 1980’s

American Housing Builders was established in 1991 with a philosophy of quality and integrity.  American Housing Builders, Inc. remains one of the most respected new home builders on Florida’s west coast.  Mick McKenzie, past owner and President, comes from a long line of successful home builders.  His grandfather, Walter McKenzie, was a home builder in Pinellas County and his father, T.K. McKenzie, built homes in Pinellas and Manatee Counties for over 40 years.  T.K. was a pioneer in the building industry.  He instilled the values of quality workmanship and integrity in his team, his homes and everything he pursued.

Valerie and her father Mick “updating” new home designs in the 2020’s

Mick’s daughter Valerie was also raised in the building industry and she strives for the same ideals as her father and grandfathers.  Valerie, along with Jerry Robinson, also the son of a new home builder, have taken over American Housing Builders and they look forward to bringing AHB into a new era of home designs and energy-efficiency.  Together, Jerry and Valerie will continue to maintain the same values of high-quality workmanship and integrity in all of their new home projects.  They strictly adhere to Florida’s stringent building code and follow that latest trends.

Valerie and Jerry were raised in the home building industry. Both of Valerie's grandfathers were builders, as well as her father, Mick McKenzie, who's motto has always been to “strive to build homes as if we were going to live in them ourselves and to treat our customers as if they were family.”  Jerry's father built homes here in the Tampa Bay area as well and between them, Jerry and Valerie have over 60 years of experience. Under new ownership, American Housing Builders continues to value high-quality workmanship and integrity, while offering new energy-efficient homes at affordable prices.
